Calendar of Upcoming Events

Dear Parents,

Wednesday, May 7th, is the day when our school children attend a Children's Church Service at St. John Church. The service will begin at 8:45 a.m. Our school has chosen the theme "Jesus Loves Me, This I Know" for the 2007-2008 school year with the focus on "filled with all the fullness of God" for May 7th. Parents, relatives and friends are welcome to join us at 8:45. Pastor Glowicki from St. John Lutheran Church will be preaching. The mission for this week is for SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT.

We are now in the last full month of school and tuition should be paid in full by the end of this school year unless special arrangements have been made with our church treasurer, Mr. Connolly. If you need to know your balance, please ask Ellen in the school office. Thank you to all of you who have already paid your 2007/2008 tuition in full.

St. John School is beginning registration for the 2008/2009 school year this spring. It is important that we have a fairly accurate count of students so we can plan for ordering textbooks and other supplies. Pre-registration packets were sent home recently with the oldest child here at school. These forms were due on Friday, April 18, 2008. If you have not yet returned your forms, please do so tomorrow as we want to plan ahead for next school year. If you know of anyone else who would like to send their child (ren) to St. John, please let Ellen know in the school office. Thanks!

SPRING OUTDOOR CLEAN-UP DAY AT ST. JOHN will be on Saturday, May 10th, with work beginning at 9:00 a.m. If you would like to help, please meet in the church link area at 8:45 a.m. and the Trustees will go over the jobs that need to be done. Thank you in advance for your help.

NOTE FROM KAREN JOHNSON REGARDING YEARBOOK COMMITTEE MEETING: The next yearbook meeting will be this Wednesday, May 7, at 6:30 in the library.

NOTE FROM THE YEARBOOK COMMITTEE: Again this year we are making a yearbook. Please see the order form located at the end of this newsletter. The cost of yearbooks is $13.00 each. Please make checks payable to St. John Lutheran School. Due date for ordering is Friday, May 23rd. Order your yearbook now for those memories that will last a lifetime!

BASKETBALL CAMP: The Evangelism Committee of St. John Lutheran Church will be hosting a Basketball Camp this June as an outreach effort to our community. All St. John School children who will be in grades 1-6 next fall are invited to attend. The cost for the camp is $10 and campers will receive a "Path to Victory" T-shirt and sports bible for attending. The Girl's camp will be held June 13-15 and the boy's camp will be June 20-22. Recently we sent home camp forms with your Kindergarten through Grade 5 student(s). If you need another form, please contact Ellen in the office. If your child is interested in attending, please turn the registration form in to the church office before May 31. Our school coaches will be conducting the camps. If you have any questions please speak to Tony Wimmer.

CAMP CROIX 2008: The Camp Beneath the Cross: It is that time of year to start planning for Summer Bible Camp. St. John Church has received both staff application forms and youth Bible Camp registration forms. If you are interested, you may pick up forms from the table in the narthex. Camp Croix is a summer camp for boys and girls ages 9-14.

CAMPBELL'S LABELS FOR EDUCATION: Just a reminder that it's easier than ever to clip and save Campbell's labels. All you need to do is save the UPC from the label, some are specially marked with a 5 point bonus logo next to the UPC. You do not need to cut the front label as in years past; only send in the UPC and look for any special bonus logos next to the UPCs. Please pass this information on to others who save Campbell's labels for our school. Thanks!

BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION: Keep on saving and sending in. The next deadline is June 1st, but we'd like them here by Friday, May 16, 2008. Thanks! Boxtops for Education has another promotion - giving away 20,000 in Box Tops to 5 schools per month from April 1 - July 31st. Go to boxtops4education.com to enter. No purchase necessary (use code #18000-17561) or enter UPC code.
